No jewelry is permitted to be worn during the use of any power or hand tool.
All safety rules both posted and discussed must be followed.

Adirondack Chair:	               Project               3 Hour Session       4 Sessions

This is a class the students asked for and chose the design of the chair to be built.  This chair is a comfortable outdoor piece to relax in on those warm summer days and nights by the grill.  A chair that you can’t build just one of.

Arched Panel Doors:           Lec/Demo         3 Hour Session         1 Session

Students will learn how to determine all component sizes to create raised arched panel doors. Proper step by step setups of the band saw and router table using rail and stile joinery along with the final glue up of the door are learned.

Bandsaw Basics :                Lec / Demo        3 Hour Session        1 Session

Students will learn how to properly set up their bandsaw to achieve the best performance from their saw.  The class will also cover blade selection, safety and basic sawing techniques and sawing problems.

Have you ever wanted to build a table or cabinet ?  This course can help you achieve that dream.  This in depth yet easy to follow class using both power and hand tools will give the NOVICE woodworker a good understanding of how to successfully complete a project from start to finish.  There will be explanations and demonstrations of basic woodworking techniques in a safe and easy to learn environment.
After completing these classes the student should be able to tackle many woodworking projects, the most complicated project can be broken down into the basic techniques learned in this class.
This class covers proper use and storing of wood and other materials, hand and power tools, joinery, blueprint reading, fasteners and adhesives, finishing and much more.

Blanket Chest:                        Project             3 Hour session       8 Sessions

Students will create a blanket chest featuring eight raised panels that includes a lid with breadboard edges and a tongue & groove bottom.  This real sized blanket chest measures 42” x 18” x 20” tall and could be used as a window seat.
Students will use the table saw, planer, joiner, router, router table along with other power and hand tools.
All Materials are supplied.

Cabriole Legs:                       Lec/Lab            4 Hour Session       2 Sessions

Learn how to create a cabriole Queen Anne leg with pad foot.  Lecture will explain the methods and practices from the design thru creating and implementation into classic furniture pieces.
Students will complete a pad foot cabriole leg and knee brackets using the bandsaw, mortising machine and hand tools.

Create Mouldings:                   Lec/Lab           3 Hour Session      4 Sessions

Students will learn how to make mouldings on various woodworking tools and apply them to a form using proper techniques.  Students will keep the moulding and form for their reference.

Finishing Basics:                      Lec / Lab         3 Hour Session     3 Sessions

Woodworkers either love or hate this part of their project.  Once you know how to do it properly and get the desired results you will start looking forward to it.
This class covers sanding and prepping, stains, dyes, filler, sealer, topcoats, tools and techniques for a wide variety of traditional finishes.  Students will make and keep sample finishes using a variety of materials and techniques learned in this class.

Glass Panel Doors:                   Lec/Demo       3 Hour Session      1 Session

Students will learn how to determine all component sizes and create doors with muntins and mullions to hold glass panels.  Proper step by step setups of the router table using rail and stile joinery and finial glue up of the door is learned.

Grand Father Clock:                Project             3 Hour session       _ Sessions

Students will create a Grand Father Clock featuring raised and glass panels that allow for a great view of the pendulum and weights from any angle  The front shows columns running from the base up to the bonnet giving a vertical presence that is also featured in the tongue & groove back.  This full sized clock measures 25” x 14” x 84” tall giving it a stately and elegant presence..
Students will use the table saw, planer, joiner, router, router table, lathe along with other power and hand tools.

Hand Cut Dovetails:                   Lec \ Lab         4 Hour Session     1 Session

Machine cut dovetails are fine but if you want to move to a much higher level of quality and sophistication this is the class.  Learn how to cut blind, through and sliding dovetails by hand, some of which are revered and can’t be cut by machine !  In my opinion there is no finer joint than hand cut dovetails.

Handplanes and Spokeshaves:    Lec / Lab       3 Hour Session    1 Session

This class covers how to properly tune up, sharpen and use a variety of handplanes, spokeshaves and cabinet scrapers.  In our project classes students learn these tools are essential for high quality work.  Students may bring in personal tools to tune up in the lab.

This class covers how to properly install hinges, lock sets, escutcheons, drawer slides, pulls and much more.

Mission Magazine Stand:             Project           3 Hour session    4Sessions

If you like mission furniture and the Stickley style then this reproduction of the Stickley #79 is a great piece with a small footprint.  The thru tenons, “D” hand holes and four shelves makes this an excellent project for woodworkers of any skill level.
Students learn to make blind dados, through tenons and fit components together correctly.

Pocket Screw Joinery:                  Lec/Lab          4 Hour Session   1 Session

Students will work together to build a large router table with five drawers and trim.  The entire project will be assembled using only pocket screws and drawer slides.

Throw away the instructions and learn a simple better way to set up this or any other fixed spaced comb dovetail jig to work for you instead of against you.  Covered topics are the setup and cutting of blind, rabbeted and thru dovetails.  Also covered are the box joints and sliding dovetails.  Once you see our system it is hard to believe how fast and easy it is to jump from one joint to another in just a couple of minutes with great results every time.

Learn how to use your router with a guide bushing setup for inlay work.  This course covers how to create the inlays, the inlay materials, creating templates and the process of creating a simple graphic with multiple inlay components using a hand held router.

Router Joinery 1:                        Lec /Demo         3 Hour Session    1 Session

This class will demonstrate the proper setup, cutting and application of three router cut wood joints.  The three cutter specific joints shown will be:
1)  The Lock Miter for joining structural members at right angles leaving sharp corners, and for glue joints.
2)  The Drawer Lock for cutting and assembling drawer fronts to drawer sides.
 The Finger Joint for joining structural members planer to one another with varying grain directions.

Router Basics 1:                          Lec / Lab       3 Hour Session     1 Session

Learn the basics of how and why your router preforms the cuts you want it to do and the things you don’t want it to do.  Topic covered in this class are: Fixed/Plunge bases, HP, cutting tools, electronic variable speeds, guiding attachments, setting depths, Safety, cutting directions, grain direction, climb vs. conventional cutting and more.

This class further refines the Router Fundamental 1 class and looks at technique issues along with guide bushing use and associated template and jig design.

Router Table Fundamentals:         Lec /Demo    3 Hour Session    1 Session

Learn the proper safe way to use a router table to create the results you expect.  HP, cutting tools, electronic variable speeds, guiding attachments, setting depths, Safety, cutting directions, grain direction, climb vs. conventional cutting and more are covered.

Shaker Boxes:                               Project          3 Hour Session  3 Sessions

Shaker boxes are steam bent oval shaped boxes with fitted lids.  This is a project that anyone can learn and build successfully with excellent results.  Students will make four incremental boxes that fit within one another.
All Materials are supplied.

Shaker Table:                                Project         3 Hour Session   4 Sessions

This is one of our most popular project classes.  The shaker table is 19.5””x16”x27” tall and features a drawer and tapered legs.  Many first time woodworkers will build this table with excellent results.
Students learn mortise and tenon joinery, biscuit joinery and how to properly fit an inset drawer.

Sharpening Tools:                          Lec /Lab      3 Hour Session     1 Session

Sharp tools are safer and allow for higher quality of workmanship.  This class covers and explains the different materials and techniques used for sharpening a variety of tools.  Plane blades, chisels, cabinet scrapers, router bits and drills including standard twist, flat bottom and brad point are a few of the tools students learn to sharpen properly.
Students may bring in personal woodworking tools for the lab.
 All Materials are supplied.

Small Cupboard:                          Project       4 Hour session       5 Sessions

This is another one of the popular classes.  The cupboard measures 24” x 12” x 42” tall and has an inset raised panel door, three adjustable shelves, solid brass “H” hinges and cupboard pull.  Students in this class will learn several joinery techniques and how to properly fit an inset door.  As with every project students make and apply trim and mouldings so color and grain match the remaining project.

Sofa Table:                                  Project       3 Hour Session      6 Sessions

This is a great table in a hall way or behind a sofa.  The table features tapered legs, two lipped overlay drawers and a proportion in size that shows a Shaker origin to the design.  The table measures 48” x 16” x 30” tall and is an outstanding table.
Students will use  the table saw, joiner, planer, router, dovetail fixture, plate joiner, sanders, hand tools and much more.

Stickley #603 Tabouret:               Project       3 Hour Session      4 Sessions
$300
6 Students Max.
A Tabouret is defined as a low stool or table.  This Tabouret is made of solid oak and its size is 18” diameter top at 20” tall.  The construction uses traditional jouinery techniques with the top streches dovetailed to the legs and the bottom strechers mortised and pinned.  Our version has thru tenons but blind tenons may be used as in the original Stickley design. 
Students may use  the table saw, band saw, joiner, planer, router, drill press, sanders, hand tools and much more.

Have you ever wondered “Why does the boards twist when they are being cut ?”, “Why do I need so many clamps, screws and nails to force the joints together ?”, “Why did the door fit so good before and now they don’t or “Why were the boards straight when I left the shop last night  but not now!!”
If you ever ask any of these questions, This class will answer those questions.
Students learn why these problems occur and how to solve it. Topics covered are moisture content issues the proper procedures to process wood and how to store wood correctly for both short and long term storage.
There are a few classes that will help even the most experienced woodworker, and this is one of them.

Table Saw Basics:                       Lec /Demo     3 Hour Session     1 Session

Learn the basics of safe table saw operations and the setups.  Class covers the parts of the saw, proper set up and maintenance, ripping, crosscutting, dados, safety equipment, moulding head cutters, sawing problems and more.  If you are new to table saws or just having issues with your saw this is the class that will help you.

Tilt Top Table:                              Project        3 Hour Session      4 Sessions

6 Students.
Students will build a Queen Anne Tilt Top Table with dovetailed legs, wooden hinge and brass catch.  We will use the lathe, table saw, router and router table, handplanes, spokeshaves and other power and hand tools.
The table measures 25” and 36” high with an 18” diameter rimmed top and the base approx. 20” in diameter.
All Materials are supplied.

Wood Lathe Basics:                Lec/Lab        4 Hour Session           1 Session

6 Students Max.
This class is designed to introduce the basic techniques and principles needed to use the wood lathe safely and successfully.  Students will learn and practice making a simple spindle between centers.  Students then move on make a simple goblet using a faceplate and outboard turning techniques.

Woodworking Safety:               Lec/Lab        3 Hour Session        3 Sessions

This Class is one of the prerequisite classes for the Open Lab.  This class covers safe practices of woodworking tools both power and hand tools.  This is a hands on class and students that must complete all 9 hours and pass to move to the Open Lab.

Work Bench:                             Lec/Lab       3 Hour Session        8 Sessions

6 Students Max.
Students will build a rigid enclosed plywood base with three doors.  Students will then build and attach a top featuring bench dogs and a laminated top.  Students will provide the Vises and Bench Screws for their workbench as individual woodworkers have their personal preferences and work styles.  Benches are expandable to include drawers and shelves if desired.
All Materials are supplied except as stated above.

Youth Woodworking:                  Lec/Lab   2 Hour Session                Variable

3 Students (age 12 to 15) and one of their parents Max.  Only the chosen parent and child are allowed to work on the project, NO EXCEPTIONS.
These classes is designed to expose young minds to the art of woodworking.  The students will handle most of the work on their project, however the parent will preform some of the processes deemed by the instructor to be beyond that of the students capabilities.
Parents and students must apply and be accepted to the classes by the instructor prior to the start of classes.
There are a number of different projects and the number of sessions will vary according to each project.
